I have a katana (Japanese sword) from a gift shop and I do not even know if it made of stainless steel or carbon steel. i wanted to just one as a collection, and I did not know if I needed to clean it in a special way so that they do not rust. thanks! It is good that you it was a souvenir shop, and not likely to pay a few thousand, it's not very likely made of stainless steel. Just keep it wiped off, and it was all good.
